Here at Mavidy Studios, we can assist you with custom tailor-made dresses. This means you can practically choose any dress in our store and ask for it to be made according to your size and shape and even in a different colour depending on the fabrics used in the making of the dress. Our dressmakers are world-class in both quality and speed. Whilst the average Retail Store takes between 3-6 months to make a dress for you, we can do it in 2 months (8-10 weeks). We recommend that you factor in 10 weeks to be conservative and to allow time for us to professionally steam your tailor-made dress for you (FREE OF CHARGE) before notifying you of its readiness. Having said that, it is still much better for you to let us know of your desire to have a dress made as early as possible as at any one time, your dress is obviously not the only one being made by our dress makers.

For school formal dresses or bridesmaid dresses or any other dresses for that matter, you can even request sample fabrics to take with you in order to help you in the shopping process for other components of your day (i.e. matching the dress sash colour to your flower colours, the male partner's formal suit or shirt or tie etc.)

To begin the tailor-making process, you will need to come in to be measured by our staff. This is what we prefer although in times past, we have had clients email us their measurements due to being in another city or country at the time. If you choose this option, we highly recommend that you ask someone who knows how to measure figures to take your measurements as we take no responsibility for the dress not fitting perfectly if someone gives us measurements which are not entirely accurate. Please Note - It is important that you either bring the shoes that you will wear with the dress at your event or high heels of a similar height so that we can accurately measure the hem.

At Mavidy Studios, we can even make a dress for you that is not in our shop. What you need to do is show us good quality photos of the dress design. The higher the resolution of the photos, the more detail we can see as reference. The more number of photos you have of the dress from different angles, the better idea we have of what the dress looks like as a whole. Please bear in mind however that often, the dress will not come out 'exactly' as you imagined from your provided photos due to our dress makers having to reference 'photos' and not a real dress. There is therefore always a tiny bit of Couture Designer professional improvization that goes into the dressmaking process. Needless to say, the dress will be made for your figure but the colours, fabric types and dress ornaments that we can provide will need to be confirmed by you before we go ahead with the dress making.

Finally, although we offer this service, we cannot guarantee that we will be able make EVERY DRESS DESIGN shown to us as some are exceptionally complex. We first need to discuss the design with our dress makers to see whether they are happy and confident in re-creating the design to reflect our high standard of tailoring excellence. If our dressmakers are in fact able to make a design for you, we will contact you with a quote to see if you would like us to go ahead.
